If you would like to colour this scrub that is an option as well using either liquid dyes or try ultramarine/oxide colours and even a little mica.
Fragrance with your favorite scent to add to the total experience.
Here’s how you do it.
Tips: Make sure you weigh the ingredients on a scale don’t use cups and spoons.
Have your molds ready before you start this project
This recipe of Solid Shea Butter Sugar Scrub will make 2 – 4oz rectangle bars which you can cut into 6 cubes each
- 2 oz clear soap base (cut in small pieces)
- 1 oz shea butter
- 1.5 oz olive oil
- 6 oz granulated white sugar
- 1/2- 1 tsp Fragrance Oil
- Colour optional
In a glass measuring cup melt the shea butter and the olive oil together in the microwave (approx 60 seconds)
Add the chopped up soap base.
Microwave for about 30 – 60 seconds just until soap base is melted, medium power.
Remove and quickly stir in sugar, fragrance and colour.
Continue stirring until mixture starts to thicken and then work really fast to pack it into the mold.
If the mixture gets too thick to pack just reheat in the microwave for a few seconds to loosen.
This does need to be fairly thick to keep all the oils and fragrance together. As long as it is just soft enough to pack into a mold that’s how you want it to be. If you overheat it you will melt the sugar.
If you want to make the fruit slices once the sugar scrub is thick enough to pack, shape it into a round ball (makes 2) and what we did was used the round bath fizzer mold to help shape it.
Once the bars are totally cold (you can even put them in the fridge to set them up) cut them into cubes or wedges and toss them in some sugar to give them a candy coated look.
How to use these wonderful little Solid Shea Butter Sugar Scrub:
Just get one wet in the shower or bath. Squish it in your hand until it’s soft and feels like play dough then rub it on your skin to exfoliate, cleanse and moisturize.
